WHO YOU ARE MATTERS
Where I come from
Although I grew up all over Orange County, California, I spent the majority of my time in Newport Beach. The area is beautiful being right by the water, and the weather is even better.
Where I am going
Currently, I am on track to pursue my career as a traveling nurse. During my childhood, I rarely had the opportunity to travel, which is something I really enjoy. As a traveling nurse, I will get to work in a variety of locations all over the country while exploring new areas and meeting new people.
How I plan to get there
In order to get to my destination of being a traveling nurse, there are a few steps I have to take. I have to apply to nursing schools in order to become a licensed registered nurse. After, I have to gain experience in the nursing field in order to apply to a traveling nurse agency.
How I am like/unlike my parents
As I am closer to my dad than my mom, I pull more characteristics from him. We are very similar in how we are very “go with the flow”, but also very dedicated to whatever we are interested in. I am similar to my mom in how organized we are and how independent we are.
I am unlike my dad in the ways we carry ourselves. My dad tends to be very hard on himself leading to a lot of stress, where I try not to let negative emotions linger for too long. I am unlike my mother as we share different perspectives on my life. My mom wants me to be very successful and encourages me to prepare for my future constantly, whereas I want to spend more time having fun.
Do I live under my expectations or someone else’s?
I like to think that it is a combination of both. My parents’ expectations of me became my own expectations of myself. Although my standards are a little lower than theirs, they combine to help me constantly work hard and efficiently.
A role model for me is Kobe Bryant. Growing up a Lakers fan in Newport Beach, I would always watch him play, and sometimes I would see him as he lived in Newport Beach as well. The way he dedicated his life to his passion was very inspiring to me and motivates me to work harder.
What wild animal do you feel a special connection with, and why?
I feel a special connection to capybaras. They seem very relaxed and welcoming to other animals and humans, and I like to think that I share these characteristics with them.
My encounter with a tree or a plant
I had once fallen into a bush, which had horns hidden within the leaves. It definitely taught me a lesson to be careful, even when things seem safe.
